With meatballs, spaghetti and cannoli, you get friendships

The Bellport Rotary Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser at Avino’s Italian Table Monday night was so successful that “next year [there] will be two seating times,” said club director Lorraine Kuehn.

(Three meatballs, salad and yep, cannolis for dessert for $40 reeled them in.)

Guests took up Avino’s main dining rooms downstairs, the bar, and the outside area with 120 guests.

Kuehn said money raised, over $7,500 netted, will fund vocational scholarships for students at Bellport High School, holiday kits to benefit 15 families at Pathway to Recovery, and the Rotary Foundation, which provides grants worldwide.

Twenty-eight local businesses signed up for placemat sponsorships; Searles Graphics provided the printing and design.

Attendees included District Gov. Lydia Wells and District Gov.-Elect Pam Greene.

Kuehn noted the satisfied smiles as Avino’s waiters and waitresses hustled: “They were wonderful.”
