Preregistered participants picked up supplies to create their own unique scarecrow to display downtown in Bellport Village at the annual Scarecrow Contest last month.
About 30 scarecrows are now being displayed on Main Street and partially down Bellport Lane and partially up Station Road through Halloween.
People can vote in local stores, with a pumpkin bucket or cauldron, for which is their favorite. Voting will end on Oct. 25 and the winners will be announced during the Halloween parade on Oct. 26. There will be prizes for the winning scarecrows.
