Suffolk County police arrested a man for shooting another man in Shirley early on the morning of Thursday, Oct. 9.
A man walked up to the driver’s side window of a 2021 BMW parked in the driveway of a residence on Seymour Drive and shot a man sitting in the driver’s seat in the leg at approximately 1:35 a.m. A woman sitting in the front passenger seat was not injured.
The man fled in a gray vehicle.
After an investigation, Seventh Squad detectives arrested Edward Perry on Hoffman Avenue, in Bellport, at approximately 3 p.m. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The BMW was impounded.
Perry, 40, of Poospatuck Lane, Mastic, was charged with assault 1st degree. He was held overnight at the Seventh Precinct.
