Bellport Village remembered the fallen members of the Armed Forces with its annual Memorial Day parade on Monday.
The parade stepped off from the Village Green and made its way up Station Road to Woodland Cemetery for a wreath-laying ceremony. Onlookers cheered the marching veterans, Little Leaguers, marching bands and more.
At Woodland Cemetery, Bellport mayor Maureen Veitch and VFW Post 8300 Cmrd. Pasquale Marra, a U.S. Army veteran and paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne, were among the speakers. “Taps” was sounded and area fire departments and South Country Ambulance Company laid wreaths at the cemetery’s memorial.
